Layer: Coastal Erosion Hazard Line (2080) (ID: 39)

Parent Layer: Whakatane District

Name: Coastal Erosion Hazard Line (2080)

Display Field: Scenario

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description: The coastal erosion hazard areas (CEHA) identify land susceptible to coastal erosion including an allowance for climate change. The hazard areas are mapped at a local scale where the expected erosion distance is offset from a coastline baseline. The erosion distances are based on the combination of several components specific to the shoreline type. For example, on unconsolidated dune beaches the erosion components include short and long term erosion, dune stability and the impact of sea level rise. The CEHA map layers are produced for six scenarios set at a current year, 50 year and 100 year planning timeframe with two likelihoods of exceedance. A 50% probability (likely) of exceedance at the set timeframe and a 5% probability (very unlikely or potential) of exceedance at the set timeframe.
