 "description": "<DIV STYLE=\"text-align:Left;\"><DIV><DIV><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>The following information relates these 3 datasets:<\/SPAN><\/P><UL><LI><P><SPAN>Biodiversity - Rare species at risk<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI><LI><P><SPAN>Biodiversity - Rare species at risk - REC watersheds<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI><LI><P><SPAN>Biodiversity - Hochstetter's Frog habitat<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI><\/UL><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>These datasets identify freshwater segments where a threatened or rare water dependent species had been identified, and likely Hochstetter<\/SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>\u2019<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><SPAN>s frog (Eastern Raukumara, Western Raukumara and Kaimai varieties, At Risk \u2013 Declining) habitats.<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN /><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN STYLE=\"font-weight:bold;\">Biodiversity - Rare species at risk - REC watersheds<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>There are two fields in this dataset: Threatened species observed (ThreatSp) and Other conservation species observed (ConsSp).<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN /><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>Where Threatened species observed = 'Yes'<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 20;\"><SPAN>A species is categorised as Threatened if it is listed as such in the New Zealand Threat Classification System (NZTCS). The threatened category includes species listed as Nationally Critical, Nationally Endangered or Nationally Vulnerable.<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN /><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>Where Other conservation species observed = 'Yes'<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"text-indent:20;margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>Species of conservation interest are those listed within the NZTCS as At Risk or Data Deficient and species considered rare within the Bay of Plenty.<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN /><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN STYLE=\"font-weight:bold;\">Note: <\/SPAN><SPAN>The <\/SPAN><SPAN>REC <\/SPAN><SPAN>watersheds identified shows where the freshwater-dependent conservation species had been recorded; this does not exclude their presence in other localities.<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN /><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN STYLE=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Ahikā Consulting Report 2021<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>The 2021 Ahikā Consulting Report compiled a dataset based on observation records, excluding fish and invertebrate species<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN /><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN><SPAN>This dataset was derived from 23 sources, including <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><SPAN STYLE=\"font-style:italic;\">Auckland Museum collections, BOPRC EPT, BOPRC Key Biodiversity Flora Sites, BoPRC Marsh Bird, CHR Allan Herbarium, DoC databases, eBird, iNaturalist, MBIS Marine Fauna and Flora observations around New Zealand, MPI Protected species bycatch in New Zealand fisheries, National Vegetation Survey, NERMN, NIWA Invertebrate Type Collection, NIWA Freshwater Fish Database, and NZ Arthropod Collection. <\/SPAN><SPAN>Permission for data usage was granted through Creative Commons or obtained from hosting organisations.<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>While this dataset cannot be shared directly, it serves as a foundation for identifying water bodies that support threatened or rare freshwater-dependent species. Each location of a freshwater-dependent species was assigned to the underlying River Catchment Unit and River Environment Classification (REC) Hydro Unit. The REC hydro unit (watershed) were used as the basis for aggregated mapping as they offered fine-scale detail throughout the region.<\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN>We noted these data presented a gap in frogs records, as it was not one of the targeted taxonomic groups in the 23 data sources. Hence only two observations out of 28,830 were recorded from the above sources.
